MOBILE HOLOGRAPHIC PROJECTION:
THE STATE OF THE ART

Holographic project technology can revolutionize the use of mobile devices such as cellphones.  One of the greatest challenges in further development of cellphones is the scale of interaction from humans to computers, and vice versa.  With advances in miniaturization of circuitry and imaging systems, cellphones can be made very small.  However, humans have difficulty entering data into miniature keyboards and seeing images on miniature screens.

Holographic technology can help to overcome both of these scale limitations.  First, holographic keyboard technology can enable data entry through a projected keyboard that is larger than the device itself and displaying images that are larger than the device itself.   A holographic keyboard that is many times the size of the phone can be projected onto a flat surface.  Infrared sensors or gesture recognition systems can identify the location of human fingers relative to the projected keyboard.   For more information, see Holotouch.  Second, holographic projection  technology can enable the projection of a well-focused image many times the size of a mobile device onto a flat surface such as a wall or ceiling.  For more information, see LightBlueOptics.
